Monday 1/10/2012:

Skittles and Food at the Sheep Heid Inn, 7.30 pm - 10.30 pm. And no, we are not talking about the candy - this is an evening in what is quite possibly the oldest pub in Scotland, with good food and the traditional bowling game of skittles! Fresher's Week 2012

Welcome to another year at Edinburgh University! And for all you student's who are coming here from abroad, whether you are a returning student or if this is your first time, the ISC is ready for you!

We will be open everyday of Fresher's Week from September 6th for everyone who will be arriving early, so drop by our lounge for a friendly chat with us and other international students, and to take advantage of our free tea and coffee.

Thursday September 6th 2012

Free tea and coffee at the ISC lounge, which will be open from 12pm to 4pm.

At 1pm on-wards the Edinburgh University Student's Association (EUSA) and the ISC will be hosting a photo scavenger hunt around Edinburgh. Pre-registration is required: http://www.eusa.ed.ac.uk/global/tours/


Friday September 7th 2012

Today is also the Edinburgh University Student's Association's International Day! This is the main welcome event for international students arriving in Edinburgh. Drop by Appleton Tower, Teviot Row House and Potterrow  between 10.30am to 4pm to get advice from EUSA for new international students. Free tea and coffee at the ISC lounge, which will be open from 12pm to 4pm. Tuesdays are also the ISC's coffee evening, this means we will be open until 6 AND we will be providing free snacks and cookies! (This will happen every Tuesday throughout the rest of the academic year)

Wednesday September 12th 2012

If anyone is interested in a historical tour of Edinburgh, we will be running an hour and a half long tour starting at 1pm. No registration necessary, but be outside the ISC lounge at 1pm


Ticket sale for the upcoming St. Andrews trip (which will be on Saturday September 15th) will be running from 4.30pm at the ISC lounge. To celebrate the diversity we have here at the ISC, we will be having a potluck dinner. For those who are unfamiliar with the concept- bring some food (any portion you can manage) from your country (or any others, really) to share with everyone else. Other guests will do the same and that way you get to sample many different things in one night! Potluck will start in our lounge at 7pm.

If you are interested in helping out and volunteering with the ISC, whether it be serving tea or coffee with a friendly face at the lounge or helping to organise trips and events, come to this meeting! Volunteering for the ISC gives you an amazing platform to make new friends, learn transferable skills which will enhance your CV and most of all- to have fun! The sign up meeting will be between 7pm to 9pm, drop by when you have the opportunity, but don't worry if you cannot make it because at the same time next week, there will be another chance for you to sign up.
Every Thursday at 9pm the ISC will be hosting a weekly pub night. Tonight however will be a meet an greet pub night at the Pear Tree, for those of your who don't know where to find it, we will be meeting outside the ISC lounge at 9pm to make our way there together. An important reminder for those of you who will be going to the pub night is that ID checking will be very strict!! Most pubs in the UK ONLY accept driver's license or passport as identification, other forms of photo identification may not be accepted.

Sunday September 16th 2012

For those of you who haven't already been at one with Edinburgh's beautiful landscape, we will be hosting a walk up Arthur's Seat at 2pm. So if you're interested meet us outside the ISC lounge at 2pm, don't forget to bring a camera and sturdy footwear!
